Anne-Laure Meury steals the show as Lucie who is stunningly, brilliantly, amazing and completely made the film for me. She was just so, so, so much fun to watch putting so much life in to the film. Rohmer's compassionate directing helps elicit our sympathies for the two other main characters, who could well have otherwise ended up annoying, and the film contains all the wonderful emotional insight that I've come to expect from Rohmer.

Charming and somewhat depressing film about finding and keeping love. The character Francois can't seem to catch a break in his life and emotionally clings to a woman he only has a casual relationship with. The woman (played by Marie Riviere) has her heart elsewhere and keeps him around because he's an emotional outlet for her and a good part time companion. The writing in it is typical Rohmer and as always has beautifully shot locations around Paris.

The movie's characters aren't especially likable but they're intriguing none the less in their realism. Rohmer's gift for dialogue is in full force and he captures moods and feelings so well.
