The best part of this episode is seeing the continuous praise of the Soviet spirit which is so at odds with the U.S. attitude in the following decades. Consistent with the tone of the rest of the series otherwise.

In addition to the other virtues of this series, it's pleasantly strange to see an American film trying to make Communist Russia look as good as possible. We did not yet know that Stalin murdered so many that he made Hitler look like a piker. On top of that, you see things here not normally seen in '40s Hollywood movies: real soldiers with real guns, real combat... and very real corpses
