I'm not impressed, but then again I'm not French.

Much more interesting if you know its production history. But if you don't, half the jokes (really) work and the other half (really) don't. An interesting if mediocre effort.

The gags are decent enough to make the short running time bearable but there's not much more than that.

Jerry Lewis, in his directorial debut, tries to emulate Tati. And fails miserably. While his performance as the bellboy is wordless, he's so enamored with himself that he couldn't resist giving himself a speaking role... as Jerry Lewis, being mobbed by his adoring entourage and admirers. The timing is way off. While a few of the bits are good, he drags them out far too long and seems to milk each of them just one time too many. Either that, or it's a whole lot of buildup for very little payoff.

Classic comedy. Not bad, but its so old, is a type of humor is very naive and silly, sometimes.
