This is so stupid. ''Oh hi Mr. Zombi, please come and get me! I'm crazy about to die. Oh come on, you are so slow and I'm bored already! And also; I like to waste my bullets, because my gun is pretty magical! Bum Bum!''

Stylish Lucio Fulci zombie schlocker about a cursed hotel built above one of the seven gates of Hell. It's really short on plot and character development, but it absolutely revels in scenes of ocular destruction. Oh, and a guy gets his face eaten by tarantulas. Goopy, gory and stupid fun.

Undoubtedly Fulci's finest film, The Beyond is his most mature work, yet still riddled with moments of cartoonish and cheap-looking gore. Decided non-fans of genre cinema should stay away, but horror fans will probably dig it.

has some very disturbing and creepy moments, that are mostly ruined by how dreadfully artificial everything looks. the cinematography reminds of good old spaghetti western, clearly a vintage italian movie. however not the most believable sort. most of the points go out to the concept, realization just could not keep up with it.

I had a ton of fun with The Beyond. The gore was good and there were was a ton of it to look at. Most people are saying the plot is hard to follow or nonexistent, but to me that seems to be the point. It plays out like a hellish nightmare and I really liked that.

A quite bonkers Italian zombie flick from the maestro of eyeball trauma, Lucio Fulci. Hammier than Porky Pig's gammon sandwich, The Beyond makes about as much sense as corned beef flapjacks, but I'll be damned if it isn't an enjoyable 90 minutes of madness. Watch it in a double bill with the equally barmy City of the Living Dead

the decipherable part of the plot is bare and unintelligible, the dialog is shabby and the acting is downright horrible. the best part of this movie is the gore and the music, both of which are dated to the extent of taming what i'm sure was at least a moderately scary movie in the 80's to being about as frightening as "the wiggles"--in other words not watchable.

Like most of Fulci's films, The Beyond trudges by at a snail's pace. Shots, sequences, and even the entire film itself go on about 25% longer than they should. Big reveal shots are even repeated multiple times (the little girl's white eyes, for example). But still, it's Fulci, and it's one of his most inventive and over the top. We get enough oozing, bulging rubber prosthetic heads here to fill three Argento movies. The cinematography is pretty decent, too.

This have moments of macabre poetry surpassing everything else I've seen by Fulci. The opening sequence in sepia tones is a great examples of his queer skillfulness in bringing forth unique moods, a certain pressing, nightmarish atmosphere of morbidity through hyper-stylized framing and mise-en-scène and a curious soundtrack. I don't think the film works so well as a whole, but there are many memorable scenes here where Fulci depict the horror in a dreamlike and endearing manner.

Nice and creepy story, wonderful sets and locales, the movie is somewhat marred by the fact that it basically stops moving during the imaginative, but technically-flawed gore scenes. The acting/dubbing doesn't help its case either. Still, it's Fulci's best work, and worth a watch. The soundtrack is really really really good and almost always in-print.

An incoherent movie, basically a series of gore scenes linked together by a threadbare plot. Then again, that was apparently Fulci's intention. Whatever the case, it drags far too much during the middle act to sustain interest. It's considered one of Fulci's best, but I don't know that it will convert you if you're not already a fan of his movies.

Not as bad as expected, far from it actually. Some scenes have a certain atmosphere about them, thanks to highly stylized visuals, especially the lighting, and an odd, but fitting soundtrack.
