Bruce Lee starring debut. It is his most brutal film, also the first film with him I saw. To this day it is my favorite. Bruce is a typical heroic protagonist from HK movies of that era. A mainlander who comes to work in Hong Kong, and gets in a mess with local criminals. Some of the cartoonish humor is out of place, but the use of modern music and heavy violence and nudity makes is clear that it is not a traditional Shaw Bros kung-fu flick.

basically devoid of the kind of action expected from a person like bruce lee. the plot here is terrible, except for a couple times where there is a decent scene (but they are few). the editing, music, sound effects, and dubbing are miserable. just give this one a pass, please, for the love of god.

The fight scenes are great in this movie. The plot makes little sense, but who cares when you've got Bruce Lee?

there's not enough action here but the few there is of course is sublime. The final fight is probably Bruce Lee's best.

Most of this one Bruce spends as a benchwarmer (just keeps fingering that damned locket every couple of minutes and looking longingly toward all the action). Tien is quite charismatic as well...but unfortunately this enterprise doesn't really add up to much. Recurrent musical theme reminiscent of "Relax" by Frankie Goes To Hollywood.

This film was all too funny, especially when they ask Bruce if he managed to find their friend abruptly ending their joyous parade. Got truly brutal near the end, to bad the ending didn't feel solid to me.

I understand it was Lee's debut movie, but the cheesy special effects, subpar performances, and revenge-ridden subplot, it's just not great. Still, for his debut film, Lee did very well.

Bruce Lee's first kung fu movie. Bruce spends more than half the movie honoring a promise to NOT fight anyone, but when he finally cuts loose, it's amazing.

Lee is charismatic, athletic, a pure joy to watch fighting. Unfortunately the film drags in the first two thirds when he's not fighting, the story is pretty simple and quickly grows tiresome. The final scenes are much more enjoyable.

The fight scenes with Bruce Lee are absolutely jaw dropping. He's so incredibly fast it puts modern kung-fu films to shame. In the Bourne films they removed frames to speed up the action. In this film they had to film at higher speeds just to properly see Bruce Lee in some sequences. Yes, he's that fast. It's disappointing that the plot, dialog and humour is incredibly dated. Still, it's a Bruce Lee film and let's be honest you're seeing it for the action.

Lots of very generic fight scenes of Bruce beating up bad guys with long, exaggerated, slow movements. Hong Kong Kung Fu would make a huge leap forward throughout the 70s, and while this picture was important in its development, it doesn't compare to many later pictures.
