The long and winding pursuit of Cuchillo by Corbett is filled with moments of hilarity and explosive violence. The plot is somewhat predictable once all the main characters are introduced, but Milian and Van Cleef make it so enjoyable to watch that it doesn't matter. A solid spaghetti western.

Watching spaghetti westerns made by the other Sergios has led me to appreciate Leone's films even more. The visual control and operatic arc are lacking in what are essentially down-and-dirty b-westerns. They're a little more violent and sexy than the Hollywood films of the time, but the acting and production values are far worse. And whoever thought weasel-faced Lee Van Cleef would make a good lead needs to lay off the porto.

A very fun Spaghetti Western, highly recommended for fans of the genre. I like how, against convention, Van Cleef's heroic pistollero type is constantly outwitted by Milian's cowardly Mexican type "villain". Also, The taboo subject of child-rape makes an unusual back-story.
