A different, compelling story, although the characters and dialogue sometimes lack depth, and the acting doesn't always work.

Unbelievably underrated video-obsessed film by Ferrara, one that seems like the opposite of another 1997 film about VHS and porn industry -- I'm talking about Boogie Nights -- and incredibly related to a 2010 film about filmmaking -- this is Road to Nowhere. Blackout feels like a pretty flawed Haneke's feature, though. Ultimately, it puts the camera as the director -- actually, there are shots where the camera, with its alarming red light, is the only thing appearing in the frame.

Another Ferrara mess, interesting in places.
