What a bad unprofessional thriller, no horror to see, and I'm wondering : how can you lost in a forest where there is a river ?

I still hate myself for seeing this movie in the theater with some sense of anticipatory excitement. And I was a full-grown adult by then too...geeesh.

Amazing.

It's a shame this move gets so much flack for being what it is, because for me, THIS is how you do a horror film. I'm someone who has never been scared by the run of the mill, killer with a knife, cheap scares and over blown gore of most modern horror films, they just never do it for me, but the way they went about making this just sends shivers down my spine every time. Yeah sure the acting is mostly terrible and it takes ages to get going but it slowly builds up tension and then BAM, Terrify

Definitely creeped me out back then. Also big pluses for the marketing campaign and the guts to pull this experiment off.

Tries to be so "alternative" and "differant" with a "crazy suspenseful and weird ending". I found it boring.

Could've been even more scary if they had put their minds to it.

The first and last movie where the shaky-cam is used effectively. Plus it's short, there's no gore, no jump scares, no clichéd plot devices, no visual of the witch, no happy ending and an amazing sound design. It definitely had an impact on cinema (Cloverfield, Rec) and viral marketing (5 years before YouTube and the Web2.0 thing). It doesn't deserve the hate.
