Summary: It's the weekend, and five students have weekend detention. There's a jock, a princess, a misfit, a nerd, and a lout. Not much in common, except for having to give up their day, sit in the school library, and write an essay for the principal. Being from such widely different backgrounds and having such completely different personalities, it's inevitable that some frictions and shenanigans develop. In terms of pure nostalgia, this film rocks. I can't evaluate it objectivly 'cause it's all tied up with my childhood and slumber parties and girly-ness, etc. It's just...it's The Freakin' Breakfast Club, ya'll!

It could have been a great character study, but at the end it falls down to being just another teen movie, too schmaltzy and moralistic to have any real kick. Still a fun enough way to spend two hours, though, and far better than I was expecting.

Good flick. I liked the dialog and the way the characters could relate to each other on varying levels despite their obvious differences. Didn't like the way the couples got together at the end, there was no need for that at all. Possibility for a 21st century remake?
