The general concept is the best thing about this movie--a Western-monster movie hybrid. The scenes in between the action (and there are many) are boring and serve little purpose--the characters or story are not developed in any interesting ways. The predicaments and the ways the protagonists get out of them are totally unimaginative. The monsters also look pretty silly and not very scary at all. (They also seem to move quickly initially, but then crawl later on.)
Great premise, and starts fairly decent, but it derails half-way. Subplots just disappear and there are some gaps in the story. The sudden ending doesn't help either. But I'll give a sequel another shot.
Mix "Tremors", western trimmings, some cool actors and (at the end, at last) a bucketload of distusting gore, bile and yucky acid, and you've got yourself a pretty decent b-movie.
Very well build horror flick. The mood and premise carry nicely till the end. Well, as long as you do not see the source of horror. The photography is beautiful and the cast is fine, but the meeting with monsters do not strike as well as it should.
Solid western take on "Tremors" that succeeds on the strength of it's cast (Clancy Brown is great) and solid photography that helps build a sense of dread, without resorting to jump scares.
