This has the feel of so many other films; The confinement of 12 angry men, the theme of the Satan Bug and the mystery of Orient Express married with the runnaway train. Strange then that it should lack any personality of its own. Contrived, flat and on the whole rather uninteresting

Entertainment-wise it's absolutely perfect. Skilfully directed and edited, "The Cassandra Crossing" works magnificently as an adventure, the best of its kind. But it also operates as an allegory, filled with sentimentally charged scenes such as the one where the train is locked and quarantined. This is a powerfully epic and sadly underestimated cinematic jewel.
