Summary: With their dour, bookish cousin Eustace (Will Poulter) in tow, the youngest Pevensie offspring -- Lucy (Georgie Henley) and Edmund (Skandar Keynes) -- take an unexpected trip back to Narnia and join noble King Caspian (Ben Barnes) for an epic high-seas adventure. I have somewhat of a soft spot for these Narnia movies, & this was no exception. For a film that very nearly two hours long it is awfully lightweight, & in reality none of the Narnia movies have ever made effective use of their source material, with this installment no different. Even so it's a good family film. The peformances are all adequate enough, with Will Poulter genuinely very good & the action & design is all very nice. Don't take it too seriously and it's more than enjoyable enough.

far inferior to the previous to, and hell even worse than the BBC versions, this is mostly due to the story being mishandled, watered down, and simply not nurtured enough as a movie. i blame the majority of the unlikeability here on poulter's unnatural penchant for making me want to kill things.

This third installment takes the same turn downwards as the books did. It started out well with tLtWatW, went down a little with faggy Prins Caspian and now we are stuck with only the two annoying kids left and a not at all magical story. The special effects are crappy, the mise-en-scene often dreadfully unprofessional and the Dawn Treader reminds me of one those small boats you sit with in the bathtub! Oh yeah and if you didnt already know who Aslan really is now you definately will! OMG!

When the best thing you can say about a film is that it's shorter than the two (awful) movies that came before it, you know you're in trouble. Having said that, Keynes and Henley seem to have grown up a little (it's easier to believe that they're fighting against bad dialogue than just acting badly), and Pegg is a tolerable replacement for Izzard in the last film. The Jesus Lion is still extremely irritating, but it's the stepping-up of the religious symbology that makes it borderline offensive.

Its leisurely, businesslike pace won't win the franchise many new fans, but Voyage of the Dawn Treader restores some of the Narnia franchise's lost luster with strong performances and impressive special effects.

The series manages to redeem itself after the trifling effort of "Prince Caspian". My thoughts on "Voyage of the Dawn Treader" are pretty much identical to "Lion", the religious overtones are still as subtle as a brick to the face but the world on show here is so engaging and enthralling that you can't help but be charmed and mystified by the whole thing. Liam Neeson still makes for a good lion/God.

I thought it was pretty much on par with the previous entries. The cousin is played by Will Poulter, who I’d seen before in Son of Rambow (2007), and I found him to be the best of the young actors in this film. I was impressed with some of the visual effects and I liked the fantastical creatures involved. The pacing bothered me a little sometimes, but overall, I enjoyed it.

One thing about the Narnia series is its consistency. Neither good nor bad, it is a good way to spend 2 hours during the weekend when it is in 3D. I think this one was slightly better than its predecessors. I liked the design of the sea monster in particular.

The type of film that's so forgettable that you don't really care how you score it so long as it's not in the greens. Then every time you go through and re-score your films later this is the one that jumps up and down dramatically between tiers, bumping uglies with Police Academy: Mission to Moscow one day and School of Rock the next. Just another drearily uninspired and ham-handed 3D "adventure" to help fill the ranks of films you need to rate on Criticker to remember that you've seen.
