Well plotted with good atmosphere and a snazzy Jazz score. Performances are rather understated giving the film a realistic tone even with its modern Gothic setting. Plus Nan Barlow shows off in a corset.

Moody scarefest has garnered a sizable (and well-deserved) cult following over the years.

This is what Psycho might have been like if Norman Bates was a member of a satanist cult instead of a common-or-garden murderer. Considering the low-budget, it does a nice job of crafting a spooky atmosphere. The music plays a big part, especially during the brilliant final scene in the graveyard. Some of the acting is a little spotty, and Christopher Lee is criminally underused, but all in all this was pretty good.

Quite good as this type of film goes.

Pretty piss-poor for the most part. The foggy set used for Whitewood is pretty neat looking so it gets credit for atmosphere.
