A clever look into madness as a reaction to war. The relentless macho tone is entertaining: rarely have I seen a movie with so much enthusiasm for beatings. Perhaps it is different if you have strong feelings about the Korean war, but it felt about half an hour too long to me. The short introduction by the Director on the DVD was refreshingly frank and unaffected.

Good story and many great scenes, but it fails to form a coherent whole and falls apart a bit in the end.

Many good scenes shown Ki-duk Kim's abilities as a movie maker. The story was interesting, how a small incidence led to leathal consequences, but evidently failed to knot all strings towards the end.
