Grace kelly and Bing Crosby probably give their career best performances. The nuances of a 'cunning drunkard' and the turmoils of a tortured soul are brought to life in a way that takes your breath away. The performances are great overall. Sometimes they are stunning. It turns out to be like a reference book for acting and emoting. Writing is good too. Bad: there were a handful of scenes that looked forced dramatic - e.g after the first kiss when she is left alone in the room.

Despite the presence of Der Bingle in the cast, this is *not* a musical. It's actually a quite strong drama, and all the more poignant if you are witnessing it from the 21st century and therefore know of Crosby's personal shortcomings
