This movie is pulp with little style, although much of that is down to Dan Brown's pulp novel: the conspiracy is simply not much of a deal (cf. Enemy of the State). Was Tom Hanks on holiday when he acted in this movie - he remained unbelievable throughout. Audrey Tautou seemed out-of-genre. The only role I enjoyed was Ian McKellen when he was camping it up on his first appearance. Few of the sets are especially attractive, but I do not know whether this was due to the dark, muddy palette.

Left too much out of the book. And i don't blame them. there was really so much to cover. but it in the end it just seemed like a major fail.

Dull and forgettable. Whilst the book was enjoyable, it functioned more like a puzzle than an actual story. Goldsman (who wrote 'Batman & Robin') fails to adapt the story, and basically just jotted down the greatest hits, making all characters paper thin and plot driven. This film won't offend anyone, but it's hard to see it as anything but redundant.

So the church is afraid of some secret that would destroy the very basis of their religion? Why don't they just deny the truthfulness of said secret like they have been for years now? I also find it funny how they add a bunch of ridiculous plot twists and riddles to pretend they're clever.

See it once as it has interesting view of some aspects of past and present. Maybe too coloured and far too close to National Treasure and other similar to Indiana Jones productions. Still entertaining and worth seeing in pair with Angels and Demons, but as I said before - do not expect too much.
