You've decided to remember The Day of the Triffids for later. You can see all your remembered films here.
Summary: A shower of meteorites produces a glow that blinds anyone that looks at it. As it was such a beautiful sight, most people were watching, and as a consequence, 99% of the population go blind. This chaos results in the escape of some Triffids: experimental plants that are capable of moving themselves around and attacking people. (imdb)

As others have indoubtedly pointed out, Scott doesn't actually fight a triffid at any point during the movie, like the song would otherwise have you believe. Regardless, this is a spiffy, little sci-fi trash opus. You probably know if this is your kind of thing from the title alone.

Interesting horror concept marred by uneven writing and acting. Reactions are broad, the writing is blunt and the various aspects of the narrative don't tie together, but it's still a somewhat entertaining way to pass the time.

One of those movies that suffers from its camp status, and doesn't measure up to one's expectations. Nowhere near as good as the Quartermass movies, for example.
