Majority of the episodes were good, bu the last one was pretty unnecessary. I liked the multiple details pointing from one to the other. Lots of good small parts. Brittany Murphy I did not like.

"Karen Moncrieff's melodrama is less noxious than Paul Haggis's race fantasy by virtue of having nothing to say about anything that will be of any importance to anyone." - Ed Gonzalez

It's watchable and it makes its point well enough, but it never really manages to make you care about what you're seeing.

- highly recommended :: I really liked the way it was presented, and I'm surprised that no student films have been made out of several smaller projects like this. Keep in mind that it's more difficult to flesh out the stories and characters when so much is going on... I think that's why some of the people are giving it lower ratings.

i'd never heard of this until I started watching, it was pretty creepy fer sure. James Franco is cool, Brittany Murphy is badass, and Giovanni Ribisi plays the same character as always.

A very dark quintet of stories surrounding the appearance of a dead girl. The script is just ok, but the performances are rich and emotional, which brings the movie up a notch.

The film is filled wtih great preformances including the seriously impressive female preformances, with with Byrne and Marcia Gay Harden particularly effective in their respective roles. To me Mary Beth Hurt is such a wonder to watch. Each one of theses perfect little segments are so well written and so well acted, you can vision any one of these stories stretched out to feature length. It's is dark and depressing material, but watching the film sure isn't because your seeing such talented work.

This is one of the best, and most overlooked, films of 2006. The performances are universally excellent, especially considering the relatively short length of time each actor is on screen, and at the heart of the film is the strongest performance of all, from Brittany Murphy in the titular role, which was, I'd wager, the greatest performance in her tragically short career. The cinematography is beautiful and atmospheric, and Karen Moncrieff's direction is unflinchingly taut and expertly crafted.
