Fairly entertaining nonsense; nowhere near as good as Scorsese's great movies; seems to be clearly made for money, most likely to finance a project he cares for more (as is his habit). Also, a strong subtext about homosexuality that does not appear to have received much attention from critics.

One of the best Scorsese movies ever made and certainly among the best of the new millenium. The Departed is an absolute masterpiece.

They gave him his Oscar for THIS? It's tragic that one of Scorsese's weakest films finally got the honour he deserved for an earlier movie - alas the politics of the Academy Awards. The film is ok, what it takes from Infernal Affairs seem to be the stronger elements. I wasn't convinced by any of the acting and found Nicholson particularly poor.

I may go so far as to say it's Scorsese's best, or at least in a long time. Brilliantly acted by all the main players with a great soundtrack and an utterly compelling plot that grabs hold and doesn't let go.

Powerhouse gangster film. The editing, screenplay, and acting ensemble make this a unique picture. Scorsese's first foray outside of New York for a gangster tale, its a real pleasure that combines old Welle's and Huston productions as much as pushes Scorsese's reputation further as the master of contemporary crime.
