Bridges' manipulator's sense of entitlement does score some scattered laughs, but film is overwhelmingly a wallow in the contagious pain of a couple who've lost 2sons.Offering no answers or meaning 2 difficult questions the viewer's usually as miserable as they r.There's clever commentary on the pretentiousness of Art, but, the film is still filled w/ symbolic metaphors that may or may not be fraught w/ meaning, making it seem like little more than beautifully shot New Yorker magazine fiction.

Not much here, really

An uncomfortable mix of tragedy and comedy. Jeff Bridges is incredible, as always.

Hmm. A tough one to rate. A film that has no idea what it wants to be. Eddie is a frustrating and poorly realized character. Jeff Bridges acts circles around everyone else. The story and mood of the film are strange. In a bad way. And yet it was still pretty interesting.

Can not be great, but even with the characteristic of being cliche, makes no be despicable. It is a solid drama, with good interpretations, script and direction.

The Door in the Floor was quite a bore. No, not really. I actually gave up on this one after seeing Jeff Bridges' arse twice and Jon Foster taking some time to enjoy himself twice. Maybe it would have been better if they decided to cover up the door that was on the floor with a nice rug. It probably would have really brought the film together.

A movie so bad it could only have come from a John Irving novel.

Lots of sexual tention on each character in this story (even on Bijou Phillips who was only in some scenes), but somehow I did not buy it. Prob. more interesting to read the book by Irving.

Good movie and adaptation, especially Jeff Bridges' acting is impressive. It isn't easy to adapt the novel (or the first part of it, better saying), but I wasn't disappointed.

In this film a writer critiques a beginning writer's work by saying: "It's real but uninteresting." That statement really rings true for this film. Well not so much the real part, but definitely the uninteresting.

Very slow start, but not bad at all really.

I kind of liked this one. Kim Bassinger is beautiful.

Good movie

Another great performance from Jeff Bridges. His character here is so wild and unpredictable, but at the same time cunning and vindictive. What's most interesting about this film is the way it balances between drama and humor quite effectively. Not an easy thing to do.

Quality acting a great story and a treat to watch,A brilliant film.
