Driller Killer can be noted for infusing its grungy style with expressive sensibility (religious imagery, social perspective), Ferrara milking his seedy plot not exclusively of bloodshed but thoughtful visualism. Evoking different degrees of desensitization as felt within its characters, it plays far stronger than the dreary, contrastingly empty likes of Cannibal Holocaust, though is far too slight to even approach the depth of meaningful grittiness of Ferrara's own Bad Lieutenant.

There are entertainingly bad films, then there are just plain bad films, and then there are infuriatingly bad films. 'Driller Killer' is the latter. You know you've gone wrong somewhere when 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen', one of the worst films of all time, is more entertaining. It's hard to believe that this was banned in the same decade as 'Cannibal Holocaust'. Gains a few points for the drill + head death.

It's interesting - like a trashy, low budget, exploitation version of Taxi Driver. It succeeds on some fronts (it has a dark, brooding atmosphere). But its very uneven and ultimately kind of pointless (basically Taxi Driver does whatever this tries to do a million times better).

Sat through this hoping to see some early signs of the chops that Abel Ferrara showed in King of New York. Nothing doing.

Abel Ferrara is a black acting white 'painter' who also drills holes into peoples heads with a drill. Motive? The band that lives upstairs are always rehearsing and nobody likes his shit painting...

Incredibly cheesy movie thats not terribly original, yet its not that bad. Why he drills random poor people and never the band he detests so, I have no earthly idea. Cool gore parts, though. It's also pretty gritty. Which I always add extra points for.

While not a good film, and not really so graphic as it implies, it definitely sets an effectively unsettling mood of grimy, grimy darkness.

It has a few entertaining kills and a pretty nice lesbian shower scene, but WAY too much of the running time is taken up by listening to a horrible punk band practicing.

Famous for being a video nasty, worth watching for a laugh.

This movie happened. That's really all I can say about it.

Gritty little cultclassic. Definitely has it's moments, but you'll wander what all the controversy is about.

I watched this with my mum and we laughed our way through it.
