Julianne Moore was captivating in her role considering I did not like her before this film. The pairing of Fiennes and Moore was an inspired casting choice.

It started great and had moments of briliance, and a fantastic cast with an amazing Julianne Moore, but the non-linear structure brought me OUT of the emotional impact, that the actors were building.

Sad in a particularly lugubrious way. Julianne Moore and Ralph Fiennes complement each other beautifully.

Has a few moments, but for a supposed love story its largely lacking in any human emotion....

The acting is superb (Moore is as great as ever), the cinematography is classy and beautiful and it altogether results in a mesmerizing tale that mixes religion and romance in an splendid way.

Some cute romantic parts & warm sex scenes eclipsed by boring jealous ranting or narration. Eventually the central object of focus becomes God, & the husband becomes interesting, still the crawling pace conquers all.

Well put together screen adaptation. The central characters elicit little warmth but I did find myself absorbed in the story.

Adapting a book to the screen by simply illustrating it is a low risk/low reward approach. Here it predictably results in a classy but never particularly gripping film.

Gorgeous, poetic film about love, desire, faith & redemption. Sex scenes are HOT & very adult. Ralph Fiennes is superb (as always). Stephen Rea & Ian Hart are wonderful in supporting roles.
