Depois de tudo que já ouvi falar e li sobre "O Exorcista", além de já ter visto algumas cenas aleatórias, não me surpreenderia se o filme não me atingisse ou se pudesse parecer datado. Porém mesmo assim ele impressiona tanto pela força impactante das imagens como pela construção e evolução do roteiro, sempre passando pelo crivo de uma direção corajosa e até simplies no sentido de ater-se a eliminar qualquer desvio que desconcentrasse o desenvolvimento da estória.

Creepy, but the ending has always been underwhelming to me.

The uncut version with the spiderwalk would probably receive a 90/100 from me but even with the scenes cut (probably due to censors) this still remains a classic. It looks a tad dated today but still works extremely well because it relies less on jump scares but psychological horror and religion to evoke a sense of unease and suspense.

Unintentionally funny.

Much better comedies came out of the '70s. I can't understand the praise here.

One of the few Horror movies to truly scare.

As a lover of the horror genre, I'm embarrassed that it's taken me so long to finally see this one. While still packing quite a whallop (I can't imagine how audiences took to the profane, bile-spewing, crucifix masturbating 12-year-old in 1973), endless parodies and knockoffs have diluted some of its power. Notwithstanding, this is absolutely one of the genre's best...Friedkin's direction and commitment to the profane and sacrilegious is absolutely fearless. Rarely do movies feel this dangerous.
