One of the 'better' exploitation movies I've seen, but it's still an exploitation movie.

This movie did not disappoint. Friend of mine pointed out how it breaks the "rescue the whore" trope by having a male victim of sexual violence.

Remarkably uneven in every way. For every jaw-droppingly brutal death scene there's one that's just laughably bad and unconvincing. The atmosphere is gritty and filthy one minute, then the lead detective woos some middle-aged broad and they go on these starry-eyed hand-holding dates in the park. But like all great action films it's an effortless watch, which it has to be because an attentive viewer trying to sew up all the plot holes and implausibilities will just stab himself in the eye.

Some of the exterminations are pretty cool (feeding someone to a meat grinder without it looking stupid (ricky oh), scene in the chickenhouse, etc etc) but just poooooooorly executed (winky face cuz i made a pun)

Glickenhaus deserves credit for trying to make the film as serious and dramatic as it is - is he trying to imitate Abel Ferrara or is it just because it's set in New York? - but it cannot escape the fact its generic vigilante story is uninteresting and trite tub thumping for shooting criminals indiscriminately. Neither does it help that the most charismatic actors, like Christopher George, are minor characters while the charismatic void Robert Ginty is the person we're supposed to cheer for
