Suffers from poor film stock - you can't see Charlie's facial expressions which take away a lot from the humor. Still it has a couple of funny moments and a funny ending. About all you can ask for from 1914.

Wow, well the brick fighting was interesting. Not to mention the kidnapping and the assault on a female. Believe it or not, this is one of the more violent of Chaplin's early shorts, but its creativity staging the fights and its amusing ending keep it from utter mediocrity.
