A strange, rather disturbing Kazakh film which deals with the relationship between a boy and the wolf cub he adopts. The story ultimately turns tragic, as all the boy's love cannot change the wolf's instincts. I did not see the film with subtitles, so some plot points were lost on me, but the rawness of the film's world--the opening scene has a man killing a litter of wolf cubs--was not. Fine photography, passable acting, but the story is fairly cliched, and the low budget is fairly obvious.
