Summary: Charlie is a fireman who always does everything wrong. A man talks the Fire Chief into ignoring his burning home (he wants the insurance money) unaware that his daughter (the love of the Chief) is upstairs in the house. When the house next door catches fire its owner rouses Charlie who rouses the force. (imdb)

I like some of the camera tricks and Charlie's charming. Could have been funnier and more energetic.

The Chief strangling Charlie every time he messes up reminds me a lot of Homer strangling Bart on The Simpsons. A LOT.

a decent comedy that is full of action and more fast paced than some of chaplin's other shorts. i enjoyed this, but the jokes just didn't hit the spot.

The oldest of old hat. Furthermore, this is especially unfunny when you know that thousands of people die in fires annually in the U.S. alone, and when you know that there really are irresponsible government-employed assholes everywhere who really would let your house burn down out of laziness or apathy

Quite successful shortie of a life of firemen. Once I've been one too. Charlie Chaplin uses in several scenes backwards shooting and they work nice.
