Doesn't really add anything to the original, but doesn't pale in comparison either.

Very solid acting by Rooney Mara, she was breathtaking. Even after having read the book first, her portrayal of the title character blew me away. The minor changes in the plot didn't detract from a solid film. I've yet to see the Swedish version.

Color me underwhelmed. Fincher worked his magic, as only Fincher can, but that still doesn't change the fact that the source material is on par with a Hardy Boy's mystery (but with more rape) or a Scooby Doo adventure (with fewer pedophiles dressed up as ghosts...but more rape).

Fincher masterfully utilizes every opportunity to display Daniel Craig's trademarked "concerned-in-a-tough-yet-sensitive-ass-kickin'-way". Then there's Rooney Mara', whose performance is so startlingly lukewarm and uninspired it could best be described as "Oscar-worthy".

unfortunately watched the swedish version first. this is clearly better, but having already had the plot spoiled its hard to enjoy it to the potential extent.

Holy crap!! Seriously epic stuff! I saw the swedish version.. and eventhough those are the original ones.. this was so much better :S. Fincher is great and brought that 'something extra' which he always adds, but this is a remake.. so it wasn't enough to receive the "legendary" status like Fight Club. Long movie, great story, great acting :), just the way I like it.

OK thriller can't dispel memories of the original, and suffers from the subtle sanitization of some elements which made the original film more viscerally satisfying. Plagued by a choppy and overstuffed first half packing in far too much story. Somewhat redeemed by Fincher's high-class craftmanship, and a good performance from Craig (Mara is fine, but lacks the gritty desperation that Rapace brought to the original). Has an unmistakable Hollywood gloss which robs the story of some of its impact.

A decent movie by Fincher. Gripping and really dark. Not as good as the swedish original but far away from beeing a letdown. Everybody who like the movie should try the book trilogy by Stieg Larsson!

First, a horrible opening sequence that makes no sense with the rest of the film. Second, protagonist is not cool. It's stupid failed attempt at cool. Third, remember that feeling when the mystery unravels in Hitchcock's films? None of that here. Mystery solving is just not engaging and feels forced. Strong technical side (editing, cinematography, sound) is wasted on mediocricy.

technically beyond doubt, but hey...it's a fincher movie, no surprise there. but why there had to be an almost exact copy like this remains to be debated. the ending with the whole wennerström subplot was dragged out unnecessarily, too. so YES, it IS a good movie. and NO, it's not better than the original. maybe in terms of gratuitous sex scenes :). edit: and why would anybody still cast skarsgard in a mystery-thriller? everyone knows he's the killer, as soon as he is credited! it's always him!

One of those reruns you start to wonder why. I do understand why Mr. Fincher took the work since the story is really challenge. I preferred majority of the original cast, specially the part of Lisbeth was way better. But all in all. Fincher is good director and he made a solid piece.

Very close to the 2009, Swedish language version only sexed up a little.

Thank you David Fincher for consistently saying 'fuck you' to shaky cam. that's my review. Oh and it's nice to see Daniel Craig play a person (or something resembling one) rather than a wax figure.

i loooove Lisbeth Salander, played by Rooney Mara. still the good character of Fincher, "dark", and it's totally worth it!

Mara was the wrong choice for the Salander role, and proves to be the weakest point in this remake. Pales in comparison with the Swedish film.

A tight and rare improvement on the swedish original.

The sleaziest I've felt during a movie in a long time. Cop the soundtrack instead.
