Thoroughly enjoyable adventure romp, from before Eddie Murphy committed career suicide. It's very 80s for better or worse (better), but even if you haven't seen this as a child, you'll probably still want to take a closer look at Charlotte Lewis, or rather the very unnecessary wet t-shirt shots of her, featured in this movie. My advice is: Forget the story and have fun with Eddie Murphy doing his thing. Viva Nepal!

A blah film... surprisingly so at the time, 'cause back then it seemed like Eddie Murphy could do no wrong on screen. I think this was just the beginning of his long downward spiral

Dire action-comedy-fantasy. Some of the FX (like a room falling away to expose the pits of hell) are good, Lewis is stunning, and Dance properly slimy, but this is first and foremost a Murphy vehicle and it lets both Eddie and his audience down in a big way. Murphy's character makes no sense, the attempts at humor are strained, and the alleged dare-doing makes this look like an Indiana Jones script Harrison Ford turned down for being too preposterous

Silly, but Murphy is perfectly watchable.
