Proof that execution trumps concept. The Great Gatsby is arguably one of the greatest books ever written but this version fails to rise above its made-for-TV aesthetics. It follows the novel exactingly but scenes play out in an awkward, sluggish manner and none of the characters connect. It was interesting to see Paul Rudd in a drama, at least.
