The movie had its moments. I thought Pepper did a good job in his role and I enjoyed hating him. Everything from the horrible sponge incident to the accident in the pants. That guy was messed up. Hanks was solid, and Duncan does a good job, but this movie just drags on too long. Oh man and please don't ever do another movie that compares "going problems" to "pissing razorblades". Those scenes with Hanks made me cringe. Ouch Ouch Ouch.

Decent enough adaptation of Stephen King's novel but it has some of the most laughable sentimentality ever. Plus there's literally a living breathing "magic negro" stereotype in the film which completely kills any intended seriousness. The cast and acting is pretty good though but it's such a ridiculous cliched story which makes it a purely mediocre effort.

"Please boss, don't put that thing over my face, don't put me in the dark. I'm afraid of the dark."

Does he really need to be a miracle worker--or even innocent--for us to be appalled when the onlookers say things like "die slow, you bastard"? The whole movie is just an excuse for viewers to shed some righteous tears; it's too sentimental and morally clear-cut to provoke any thought.
