The big twist is that the guy who liked hot dogs was the best part of the movie. Mark e Mark can act, so I don't know what he's doing here. Bad direction, bad script, bad acting... terrible movie. 8 points rather than zero for having a few very creepy images that really only work on their own since it all amounts to nothing.
Any money you spend on this film and any time you spend watching it is money and time you will never get back from life itself. M. Night Shyamalan has disgraced his own name. This is a soap box Bible beating pulpit for environmentalism. Starts out so promising, ends with some of the worst scenes in Hollywood history. Wahlberg is ridiculously awful in this film. I felt embarrassed to watch it and felt "raped by badness" when I left the theater. This is my most hated movie of all time. A piece of-
This is when I have fights with people. I love this movie because I treat it as a B movie. People go in expecting a deep and amazing thriller. Don't do that. The acting is bad, no thanks to the dialogue and the enemy are trees. This is still a fun movie. I just hope M. Night pulls himself together soon.
Attempts to create and inhabit an unreal dream world, rather than convey any kind of "realism." The method is a cinematically unusual relation to space (extreme close-ups and long-distance shots), time (shorts jumps in time between scenes and even shots) and character. Unfortunately, it fizzles out rather than building to any dramatically satisfying conclusion. A misunderstood (but still only partially successful) experiment, pursuing a nightmare logic founded in various contemporary anxieties.
Hilarious. For how horrible Shyamalan's plot lines can be he, has to Hollywood's king of writing pleasant witty character interplay. The preaching is effective also. In reality, there is an unconscious coup by nature building up against us (global warming.) In The Happening, there is a conscious yet ironically benevolent version of nature that is willing to fire off warning shots (while we fight amongst ourselves of course.) Again, hilarious. I really think/hope this was a comedic attempt by M.
