Summary: As part of a routine mission, a unit of National Guard soldiers stops at a New Mexico outpost in order to deliver equipment to a group of atomic scientists. When they arrive at the isolated research camp, however, they find it is mysteriously deserted. After spotting a distress signal in a distant mountain range, the team decides to embark on a search and rescue mission into the hills in order to locate the missing scientists. (20th Century Fox)
A disappointing sequel to what was such a great remake from 2006, but still a rather good Horror film with plenty of true Gore and Horror moments to enjoy. It mainly follows a group of soldiers as they are followed by the mutants. It's obviously missing that real spark from the first, along with the likeable family characters the first had. It had a few shining moments but they were rare. While its still a good film, it could have been much better considering how good the remake was.
A splatter-fest with the usual plot-holes, cliches, and stereotypes. Perhaps the most hilarious part is the fact that they think a unit of the National Guard is mostly baby-faced white-boys. Its only value is its extremely creative ways to gross you the fuck out.
and that is a generous score, terrible acting, and really they were in the national guard?? terrible, might as well been tourists! just stick with the first remake!
During the first half of The Hills Have Eyes 2, I was ready to call this a great film. After it ended, I found out it was just a mediocre one. The first half is so good, but the second half is just awful. I wasn't scared after we entered the mines, nor was I entertained. There just wasn't anything to like in the second half, and it was at this point where the no-name characters who all seemed to hate one another really got on my nerves. The second half drives it down too much to recommend.
This franchise re-vampment is wayyyyyy better than you think it'll be. Even the seond one, with all of the military stuff that would never actually happen, is a pretty sweet horror/action combo.
"The film's defining emblematic moment comes when a man crawls out of a Port-O-Potty covered in feces, thereby providing an approximation of the audience's experience." - Nick Schager
