As a huge Hitchhiker's fan (Books/Radio shows) this movie was a bit of a let down. I think that Aurthur Dent's true pathos is as the anti-hero, but in this movie he is cast more as a reluctant hero; which substantially changes the relationships and the humour - not for the better. However, it is still a DNA work, so it has many redeaming qualities.

Book was better, of course, but they did a great job.

very disappointing

It had some "smart people" jokes in it. I wasn't quite old enough to have read the book. My mother watching it with me kind of ruined it, because it's so annoying to have to explain the jokes to someone...

People will say the BBC version is better and that might be true (it is also over 4 hours long...), but this version isn't bad either

really well made and well cast, but it forgot how to be funny.

The filmatisation of the funniest book of the world is not a funniest film of all time.

Lame screen version of the brilliant radio show.

Mediocre adaption of a great, great book. Watch it if you liked the book, just don't expect a lot.
