Not the funniest movie ever, or even a perfect adaptation of the book, but Douglas Adams himself said no two versions of his work should be the same and this movie turned out pretty well on its own. I got plenty of laughs out of it and I can tell you it doesnt deserve the flack it gets.

I really really wanted to see Paul Bettany cast as Ford Prefect for this movie, 'cause he'd have been perfect... and they cast Mos Def who, although he did fine, screamed "WE'RE TRYING TO BE POLITICALLY CORRECT!" by adding a black character. Alan Rickman was great as Marvin but... why did they make Arthur and Trillian have a romance? That's... odd.
