I'm not a native but I've decided to read all of her books in English! perhaps I shouldn't give this much of a score to that!

Short version: Sex and the city without sex but with(overabused) J.Austen. Long version: To 'understand' movie, you must be quite familiar with J.Austen's novels otherwise it's really just one of bad mainstream romance movies. I scarcely know summaries of 3 Austen's novels and I can say that their place in plot of this movie isn't really good. Well there are similarities, but far away than having original set in modern time, which is idea of this film. Real shame since actors were good.

A tolerable film that maybe needed to play its gimmick (see the summary) a bit more subtly. Blunt's performance is a little too, well, blunt.

First error I made was that I had never read a Jane Austen book before seeing this movie. I would recommend trying that because it might add to the "watchability" of this flick. Overall I thought it was stupid. Its a bunch of ladies who have had men problems who meet to talk about Austen's books. But then you might ask "why is there a guy's face in the picture for this movie?' Well that's a hell of a question. Its because they add a guy as the final member of the group(cont on "Go" review)

It certainly had some nice moments, a capable cast, and fluid plotlines. There were a few holes that I'm betting the book will fill in, if I ever get around to reading it.

I actually really liked this movie. It could have easily been dark (as many of the characters have problems) but it somehow isn't, and it manages to be really quite light-hearted. It's got a great cast - and I have to say that Hugh Dancy was excellent - and I could appreciate his acting abilities even more knowing the other films that he typically does, which are more serious, period pieces, and british. :)

What the fuck. If you like watching movies about chicks sitting around talking about books, then crying, then having other minuscule problems and then ultimately nothing happens then I would recommend watching this. Yeah, I just wrote a huge run on sentence as a way of saying fuck you, Jane Austen.
