Laughably wallows in every trope and cliche of the Musical Bio-Pic. Seems like HBO has an endless stream of these things locked up in their vault that they roll out every so often. The movie moves briskly through her life to the point that you don't really care about any of the characters, and some things just jump out of nowhere and don't seem to make sense. And yet, the film is SO. LONG. It's so schmaltzy and melodramatic that I took it as a comedy. In her later years, this lady's a loon. Bad.
