Not as great as Don Siegel's version, definitely not as good as Hemingway's novel, this is on par with Siodmak's version. Still a very impressive student film!

Very solid adaptation, very faithful to the story and it beautifully manages to translate the atmosphere and rythem of Hemingway's story into film. Can't think of many student films this good.

Archival material... I don't think you should bother unless you're interested in Tarkovsky biographically. Or perhaps in comparing this to Roman Polanski's early shorts (of the same period), which are more interesting.
