The apparent bending of truths makes this film exert a little less impact, but it is still a fascinating story. Brilliantly bizarre characters.

Great little documentary on an underdog trying to break the high score record in Donkey Kong. A bit one-sided and not entirely truthful, but still well done. Also, fuck you Billy Mitchell. Nobody gives a shit about you or your hot sauce.

Plenty can be made fun of here. A guy who would rather play one video game over and over again then work or play with his kids. A guy who acts like a celebrity (Mitchell) because of a high score in Kong (and people buying into it). The line that got me thinking was from a random arcade fanatics, "Hey I don't drink. I don't smoke or do drugs. I just play video games". I realized he's right and good for him for having a healthy outlet, and that this doc had actually taught me something.

I really hope I was supposed to be angry while watching this. Billy Mitchell is a tremendous douche and Twin Galaxies is a cliquish collection of 'spergy, dishonest losers. I can't fathom why Steve Wiebe cared so much about dealing with these people considering how unethical they are and how they deliberately ostracized him. I'm having trouble reviewing this as a film because I'm just so pissed off at the men featured in it. Maybe that's effective/manipulative filmmaking?

Though this is a great, compelling film in its own right, it also has the distinction of being the only documentary that I'd like to see dramatized into a feature film. Never in my life have I witnessed a human being who resembled a Ben Stiller villain as thoroughly as Billy Mitchell; clearly this is the man Stiller was born to play. Cast Nathan Fillion as underdog science teacher, and all around nice guy, Steve Wiebe and I'd pay ten bucks to see to watch this story unfold all over again.

Absolute truth in question, we can only engage this along lines of the narrative it presents, which is essentially an underdog triumph and the comeuppance of a bully. The portrayal of Wiebe is touching; socially uneasy but a genuinely good guy, he wrestles with balancing his family life and obsessive behavior. The Redmond sections of the film are the most powerful pieces here. Mitchell is a different story, but there's a slant here, and picking on nerds, even bully nerds, feels strange to me.

The first achievement of this film is to actually portray the rivalrly and the people around it without mocking any of them or their nerd hobby. We instead are faced with the story of an average joe, an underdog in his endless fight against an undisputed king of arcade who has an entire institution on his side and is pretty much an asshole. And while I'm not sure that's how the story really goes, it makes up to an awesome story and a great documentary.

An enjoyable documentary about two men with questionable priorities. You kind of hope that Steve Wiebe isn't as dopey as he seems and that Billy Mitchell isn't as much of a dick as he seems, but as the film progresses, it's hard not to come to that conclusion.

Strong candidate for funniest documentary ever. It's sub-culture exploitation for sure, but there is just something so undeniably evil about barbeque-sauce Mitchell and his geek minions, and something so sweet about Steve's never-has-been persona. Set on the backdrop of American middleclass, the struggle to be the best at something so silly becomes honestly epic. You're laughing at them, sure, but afterwards, you're laughing at yourself for getting so worked up about fucking Donkey Kong.
