Joe Spinell plays an obsessed wannabe director who gatecrashes Cannes to convince his favorite actress to appear in his horror movie. The story is fairly predictable but there's some fun kills and a bunch of novel guerrilla-shot footage from the actual 1981 Cannes film festival. Plus, Spinell is great at playing these characters who can turn on a dime from murderous rage to pathetic mewling...come to think of it, this flick makes a perfect companion piece to Bill Lustig's "Maniac".
