you can spot that this was adapted from a play in the first three minutes, and i've always been a bit harsh to movies like that. rathbone and shearer are lukewarm at best, and everybody else is an annoying caricature. ultimately this movie fails for the same reason most other '29 sound movies do, the audio quality is so scratchy and fuzzy that i couldn't even make out what i assume was at least minorly entertaining dialog.
