Intelligent and far-reaching documentary of the first great Jewish superstar baseball player. Nice footage, diverse interviews, and a healthy does of context make this a compelling film. Worth seeing even if you're not into baseball.

This movie gets a bit of a bump since I am baseball fanatic, but for some reason I just didn't find the film to be that interesting. Maybe it was because Greenberg just wasn't that flashy of a player. i did learn how important he was to Detroit and their baseball fans. The story with him and Jackie Robinson is a good one too. His own story of courage as one of the first Jewish ballplayers is often overlooked. Nice to see a young Maury Povich get a couple quotes in here too.

If you've never heard of Hank Greenberg (the original Hammerin' Hank) and enjoy baseball, you owe it to yourself to see this film. The part of the film where Greenberg is with the Pirates and crosses paths with Jackie Robinson is worth it all by itself, but there's actually some humor in there as well (for some reason I found the stalker lady hilarious).

What is this guy? A saint? Talk about from another time! It's amazing to think of this guy being a hero as compared to any other hero i can imagine. Well okay maybe they did sorta skip over any bad stuff, all the same it's inspiring to see a real hero, and unusual. The presentation is interesting & moves well & is easily involving.
