Summary: After learning that their handler (Jason Patric) has set them up, a group of disavowed CIA operatives led by Clay -- aka the Colonel bands together to bring down their betrayers in this action thriller adapted from the comic book series by Andy Diggle and Jock.
I think this was a pretty fun movie. Chris Evans really brought it in this movie. He brings a lot of laughs and the overall action of the film is pretty decent.
The difference between this and a lot of similar movies is that this one doesn't take itself seriously at all. I had no trouble shutting my brain off for 2 hours and just enjoying this.
Excessive slow motion, stock and uninteresting characters on the good and bad sides, shitty run of the mill story, and a terrible ending. The only passable part is Chris Evans (who's been better in other things), and that's about it. Completely forgettable, and not worth your time.
I rather enjoyed this as an action-comedy. I've liked Zoe Saldana in pretty much anything she's been in so far, Idris Elba is wonderful, as are basically the entire cast, and the jokes were funny and effective. Most people seemed to think that the movie was relatively bland, which I don't really agree with, at no point in the movie did I feel bored. Were the premises flimsy? Sure they were. Was it silly at times? Sure it was. But it was still fun. It was still engaging. And I was entertained.
A stupid, amusing action movie with a barely-there plot. Things blow up, people say funny lines, and a helicopter full of children explodes. It's all I ever wanted in an action movie.
If u like tension in ur action films constantly undercut by lame jokes, allegedly adult heroes who approach danger like teens about 2 skateboard off a handrail, this is 4 u. W/ plenty of explosions, next 2 no reality & a toughguy soundtrack 2 enhance all the badassery on screen, u've seen this b4 & Hollywood will b cranking out more soon. I'll cough up some faint praise: the plot could b worse & there's some oversaturated visuals & competent fight choreography that'll give u something 2 look at.
Comic book-based action movie I probably wouldn't have looked twice at if it hadn't been for a pretty decent cast (Idris Elba, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Zoe Saldana) and a short running time. Basically The A Team dialled up a few notches, with a bunch of disgraced soldiers waging open war on the CIA. Fun, well paced, dumb in the right way. Good popcorn movie.
I almost want to say that The Losers is "good enough" as a passable action movie, but it ends up just being average. Nothing to make it stand out, but nothing to really dislike. The action is mostly stale, and the dialogue often pointless, but it will probably pass the time well enough. There are definitely better movies, but if it comes on the television sometime, you've got an hour and a half of free time, and you're too lazy to get off the couch and put on a better movie, then it'll do.
Not nearly as good as the A Team, which came out around the same time. It was your pretty typical, over-the-top action film. It was entertaining while remaining unmemorable.
The biggest problem with 'The Losers' is it wants to be so many things at once. It wants to be taken seriously, reminding you that the stakes are, indeed, high. Yet, the brooding serious tone can shift into one of a jokey, fun group that happen to enjoy explosions. The ending of the film tries to avoid the typical action formula, or seems to want to, but then falls right into every plotline you've seen Sly and Arnie play out a couple decades earlier. 'The Losers' is fun, but not very original.
It's not an intelligent film by any means, but judging from the trailer you shouldn't be expecting that anyway. It succeeds at what it attempts to be: fast, action filled, totally implausible and, most of all, fun. A great time-waster just in time for summer.
Seriously entertaining. I can't understand people who said they didn't like it. They must be crazy. Cougar is the king, and Chris Evans is hot and hilarious. A deadly combo.
