A really fun audience experience. It moves through weird tonal shifts, from cheesy romantic vampire flick to Monster Squad, to a surprisingly gory ending.

Creepy little punked-out teenage vampire movie, made before vampires were cool.

Like a perfect little 80s time capsule of awesomeness. Every actor does a great job, the effects are good, and the music is wonderful. The movie seems perfectly aware of its goofiness which it uses to its advantage. The outcome is one of the best vampire movies out there.

Even though I only saw this film for the first time when I had already reached adulthood, there's so much 80s teen nostalgia in this film that it feels as though it could've been the result had John Hughes ever tried his hand at horror. A cheesy but immensely enjoyable teen vampire flick. No Halloween movie night could be complete without it.

The one good thing that came out of this was that amazing homoerotic parody of Jason Patric eyebanging that oiled up sax player. Now it's been taken down for violations of terms of use. Fuck you, Youtube.

It's hard to pin down what makes this movie so memorable. It's a combination of the great theme song, mood, and the surreal dream like atmosphere which makes it so unique from other horror films. It's also one of those iconic 80's movies that manages to capture the feel of that era perfectly and not just with the actors. The plot is a bit thin but the film is entertaining and very memorable regardless. It also has one of the best ending lines out of any horror movie.
