Summary: In order to avoid a ghostly figure in the road, high school senior Brent wraps his car around a tree, killing his father. Constantly confronted by his mother's emotional collapse after the accident, Brent escapes into a marijuana fueled world to block the pain and guilt. Dejected and out of it, he has a shot at happiness with his girlfriend Holly, a grounded, caring girl with drop dead good looks, a dream date for the high school prom. But his plans are thwarted by a disturbing series of events. (imdb)

A relatively funny, fun, gory, and scary horror-comedy that standardly plays out, but there's just not enough meat to this bone, or would not enough bone to this meat be a more apt metaphor? Either one, still gross, like this film.

Grossly underrated horror film. The suspense is right up where it needs to be, and the makers of this film know their audience. The camera knows when the threat of terrible things is enough to get us on the edge of our seats, when to cut away from the horrible, and when it's absolutely necessary to show everything and lay the cards on the table. Our female lead is insane and scary on a level I have not seen since Kathy Bates in misery. Absolutely delightful.

Carrie goes Lola, minus supernatural bullshit, plus possibility of incest. Brilliant plot, good acting, lovely bizarre.

This film would have received a higher rating had the main character not been such an idiot. He gets overpowered by a teenage girl and a 60 year old man with rocks!!! Not believable at all. Props to Lola, but the film was filled with horror cliches. Nothing new.....watch "Otis" instead!

Better than your typical horror movie, with very good use of music, an unusual tone, some nice photography, and uneven acting. Odd that the two stories, which only had a loose connection in the beginning, only have a loose connection in the end too (and a fairly contrived one). Watchable and unusual.

a brightly coloured horror film that manages to be sickly funny. i loved the use of vibrant colour. the scenes at the fake prom are beautiful to look at. however, as much as i loved this, there are some weak spots. it wanted to be a character study of people living under the distress of losing a loved one, but i don't think it handles this aspect well. also, some of the plot is dumb.

Very bizarre with "lite" horror. Why the kidnap victim didn't speak the entire time beats me but got to give him props for having such a high tolerance for pain.

Awesome horror gem. Quality trash seems an applicable oxymoron because if there is such a thing, this is definitely it. Perfect shots, hilarious moments - and very uncomfortable ones. I was expecting the two story strands to reconnect but they never did. Which was weird. If I were to ever program a Midnight Movie Madness slot, this would be one of my top picks. That creepy teenage song still haunts me sometimes.
