Summary: Trevor Reznik has not slept for a year. His every waking minute has become an unremitting nightmare of confusion, paranoia, guilt, anxiety and terror - each of which is part of an escalating series of clues that will lead to the source of his mysterious affliction. (Paramount Classics)
A very well presented film, full of clever writing and good acting, but sadly a film that is ultimately rather unsatisfying. Whilst it is well written, the plot just isn't strong enough to be worthy of merit. It's surrounded by beautifully haunting score, great cinematography full of well placed motifs, and Bale's solid performance. It's just not enough to make up for the somewhat dull, slightly contrived plot.
Lot of things to hate/be annoyed with here, and a lot of things to be impressed by. Lots of extra points going out to Bale and his crazy transformation, the only problem is he did it for the wrong film. lol @ the name "Trevor Reznik"
This movie about a man who is slowly going mad has a wonderful Hitchcockian flair, with suspense, twists and turns up the ass. Bale is so kickass and the guy's fucking dedicated. Sure, it feels like Fight Club at times, but I think I might even like this better.
Brad Anderson's film feels vaguely familiar. The desaturated pallete and a protagonist named Trevor Reznik made me think I was watching a feature-length Nine Inch Nails video, but luckily this was closer to Fincher than Tarsem --sort of a somber, blue-collar cousin to Fight Club.
