Overridden by a strangely forced whimsy: imagine a cut-rate acolyte of Wes Anderson tasked with creating a heist comedy for the 40+ market. There are jarringly incongruous stop motion and fantasy sequences, but what really halts this is the attempt to beat irony into a test-market comedy model. The teary art appreciation starts things saggy, and the comic element is meaningless coming from such one dimensional characters. The best thing here is Freeman quietly hiding behind some cotton candy.

Lot of wasted potential with such a brilliant cast. They didn't have much to work with, script-wise. A real shame this wasn't a gem.

a very VERY tame heist movie, there's almost no excitement to it, and the comedy is lite and hit and miss. the best part of this movie is watching macy get naked every ten minutes, the rest can be skipped.

Can't wait for the special edition disk when they replace William H. Macy's @ss with a cartoon smiley face. THEN it will be an enjoyable movie.

3 enjoyable actors in a movie that would have been bad without them. Even with Walken, Macy, and Freeman the movie is yawn inducing.

I took a chance on this movie and am glad that I did .Christipher Walken plays a different role than we are used too and Freeman and Macy are also excellent . A good movie.

Not anything groundbreaking as a movie. But this is a very warm and humble comedy and to watch four godlike actors -not "stars"- on a small tour-de-force without stepping each other is a great joy for any serious fan.
