With a cast like this and a great story, this really should have been a much better movie. It wasn't a bad movie, but it wasn't as great as it could have been. Depardieu was pretty funny in his role as Byrne and Irons were also prety entertaining. Leo was a great villain, but very boring in his other, which should have been more painful and I felt let down by his performance, especially by someone of his caliber. It took a little too long for this movie to kick it in high gear.

run of the mill, by the numbers kind of story, thats still entertaining enough to be able to sit through. Great locations and acting amkke this one more pleasurable than it should. A classic story that still works.

This movie is uneven as hell, veering from intelligent to dumb and cheap. Malkovich fits his part like a square peg in a round hole.
