Summary: Antonio's friend Bassanio is in love and needs money to go courting. Using Antonio as his collateral, he borrows money from Shylock. But when the debt comes due, Shylock demands repayment in the form of a pound of Antonio's flesh. This is a video of the 1970 National Theatre stage production with most of the same cast. (imdb)

OK, I admit that I am a Shakespeare idiot. I suppose I'd seem smarter or something if I wrote the expected gush here, but, like Albert Brooks said, I'm not a liar, I'm a comedian. This movie bores the crap out of me, like most Shakespeare does, especially most of the ones featuring Olivier. I can just feel my eyes glaze over while watching it
