Clive Barker tells a good story and this one relates the story to the big screen with some faults..but all in all its worth the ride..the kills are fun...and the acting is somewhat decent...the last 20 mins I absolutely hated..this movie could have been so much more..it started big, went good...and then ended horribly...
Really there are so many wonderful places a movie with this title can go but it ends up being terribly boring. The killer never even said "I choo choo choose YOU!" before killing someone. Come on!
The story to this movie was horrible, but the violence and blood where okay. So if you like to watch a guy kill people who's supposed to be a butcher, but acts more like a man with suppressed gay tendencies. Then this is the movie for you!
Needed to be much shorter than it was, but I have a feeling it would have felt like a stretch regardless of the runtime. I don't believe I would have even watched it if it weren't for Vinnie Jones.
Felt like the first half of a good horror film. The conclusion of the movie felt like the end of the exposition, leaving a lot to my imagination. And not in a good way.
Talk about a cheese fest. And why the fuck is the girlfriend so pissed tha her boyfriend has convincing evidence in a missing persons case? Shake my head.
So stylish and smooth that you can overlook just how thin the plot actually is. Really, not much happens in this film at all that couldn't be condensed into, say, 13 minutes.
So I started off not really enjoying this or really caring what was going to end up happening but somewhere towards the end it really grabs you and has such an unexpected and intriguing ending that almost changed my opinion on the whole movie. Cast was great and while it wasn't exactly enjoyable to watch I was certainly intrigued, especially towards the end, because it plays out differently. Vinnie Jones was spot on as Mahogany, and despite not being able to talk he was certainly scary enough!
Absolutely terrible. It's only focus, or care, is to let the audience watch people get bludgeoned to death with a hammer as terrible CGI blood sprays everywhere.
Ryuhei Kitamura captures some amazing shots and lighting. Everything in the film is making a point about the art of horror cinema, begging to be explored. http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3079952#post356727025
maybe it's just because i have a serious man-crush on vinnie jones, but i kinda dug it. if you were to take away brooke sheilds, the whole art/photography thing, add a larger bodycount, and expand on the obvious clive barker penned ending this would have been a hot flick, but without those things it's pretty lukewarm.
There's only one phrase to describe "The Midnight Meat Train," Mind f***. This is a horrifying, frightening, heart stopping and chill-inducing mind f*** from beginning to end. This movie is easily, the best horror film I've in awhile and one of the most beautifully photographed horror films in recent years. can't imagine a horror fan not enjoying this movie. It's got everything you want in a horror movie and beyond. I love Clive Barker and his mad visions and I sure did love this movie too.
