Altho it does contain cast members from the D'Oyly Carte who were in the recent productions of the time, it clearly is stained with Hollywood's presence first and foremost, and not in a good way either. It seems like a sterilized version.

The truncated and bizarre prologue notwithstanding, I found much to enjoy in this version. It's stylized for the stage, clearly, but that's the aim and the charm. I'm also a huge fan of the pastel color pallete, which is pretty novel as production design goes.
